Quality of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) Changes under Different Cover Crops, Soil Tillage and Nitrogen Fertilization Management

چکیده

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the interaction effects winter cover crops (hairy vetch, subclover and black oat) a bare soil, crop biomass management (incorporated into soil or left on surface as death mulch), nitrogen (N) fertilization level (0, 75 150 kg ha−1 N) fruit yield quality parameters processing tomato. Hairy vetch residues increased (+57%), color index (+8%) sugar/acidity ratio (+7%) marketable tomato fruits compared regardless management. Black oat determined poor yield, especially in tilled (on average, −26%, soil) they had tendentially negative effect some (high firmness titratable acidity, low pH). Subclover residues, when incorporated similar although more favorable fruits. increasing N from 0 always positively influenced characteristics. results suggest that hairy other crops, positive influence tomatoes it could be part an environmentally friendly package for sustainable cultivation Mediterranean conditions.

Tillage, cover crops, and nitrogen fertilization effects on soil nitrogen and cotton and sorghum yields

Sustainable soil and crop management practices that reduce soil erosion and nitrogen (N) leaching, conserve soil organic matter, and optimize otton and sorghum yields still remain a challenge. We examined the influence of three tillage practices (no-till, strip till and chisel till), four cover rops {legume [hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth)], nonlegume [rye (Secaele cereale L.)], vetch/rye bicu...

Respiratory behavior of turning stage mature tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) under closed system at different temperature

The respiration rate and respiratory quotient of mature tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. ‘Himsona’) fruits harvested at the turning stage were determined under closed system at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 35 °C (ambient) temperatures. The rate of respiration was higher at the start of the experiment and gradually declined as the storage period prolonged, before becoming almost constant. The steady...

Metabolomic profiling from leaves and roots of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants grown under nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium-deficient condition.

Specific metabolic network responses to mineral deficiencies are not well-defined. Here, we conducted a detailed broad-scale identification of metabolic responses of tomato leaves and roots to N, P or K deficiency. Tomato plants were grown hydroponically under optimal (5mM N, 0.5mM P, or 5mM K) and deficient (0.5mM N, 0.05mM P, or 0.5mM K) conditions and metabolites were measured by LC-MS and G...

Investigating the Combined Effect of Tillage, Nitrogen Fertilization and Cover Crops on Nitrogen Use Efficiency in Winter Wheat

A field study was conducted in northern France over two consecutive years to evaluate the combined effect of conventional tillage (CT) vs no till (NT) with or without cover crops (cc) and nitrogen (N) fertilization on various agronomic traits related to N use efficiency in winter wheat. Five years after conversion of CT to NT, significant increases in N use efficiency, N utilization efficiency,...
